Summary:

We often think of meetings as a group of people sitting down with a list of topics to cover. Meetings like this tend to drag on and on, get off track, lack focus, and end without anything concrete as a result. Meetings can also be constructive, efficient, and pleasant.

An effective meeting is one that has a clear sense of purpose and results in a concrete action plan in a timely manner.

Running effective meetings also requires strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to resolve conflict.

This workshop focuses on improving the quality of your meetings by providing you with the structure and support you need to lead or participate in productive meetings.

Topics Include:

Meeting Structure

    • Defining meeting objectives, purpose, expected outcomes, and creating a step-by-step agenda
    • Introduction to strategic planning, continuous improvement and basic problem-solving models
    • Preparing for a meeting – regardless of time available

 

Facilitation Skills

    • Communication skills for facilitating meetings
    • How to increase member participation and bring closure
    • How to establish a positive meeting environment
    • Understand what causes people to react the way we do and use that insight to enhance the quality of your agreements
    • Use reflective learning to build continuous improvement
    • Flip charting skills

 

Methods:

The learning environment includes instruction, exercises, small and large group discussions, and lots of hands-on practice. My goal is to help you develop your skills and sense of confidence in a non-threatening small group setting.

Length:

2 days – 14 hours.
