Dealing With Anger

Summary:

Who hasn’t gotten angry? We all do at one point or another. Sometimes we express our anger in a controlled manner and sometimes we lose control and yell or cry or throw things. This course is geared toward understanding anger – ours and other people’s – in order to effectively defuse charged situations before they result in damage to relationships or property. We will explore what causes anger, what happens in the body physiologically, and strategies for responding to our anger and anger in others.

  • Anger styles
  • Self-talk or the internal critical voice
  • Anger & cognition
  • Common triggers
  • Functions of anger
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Explore own patterns and reactions
  • Self-management strategies
  • How to express anger constructively
  • Communication skills to defuse anger in others

 

Methods:

The learning environment includes instruction, exercises, small and large group discussions, and lots of hands-on practice. My goal is to help you develop your skills and sense of confidence in a non-threatening small group setting.

Length:

This course is a two day course but could be customized to be shortened to a one day course if needed.
